Archives For Rebound

ReachStudents Blog

Every year, ReachStudents has the pleasure of hosting a conference called Rebound. In the EFCA we believe healthy leaders and families create healthy ministries. That’s why Rebound is designed to invest into the heart health of youth pastors and their spouses, if applicable, as well as the health of their marriages.

If you’re an youth pastor in the EFCA and haven’t attended Rebound, or if you know of a youth pastor who would benefit from attending the Rebound Conference, send us an email (reachstudents@efca.org) and we’d love to get you more details for the 2016 Rebound Conference.

At Rebound 2015, we heard from Alan Kraft, lead pastor of Christ Community Church (EFCA), about four different aspects of friendship with Jesus. If you missed any of the first three messages, Kraft spoke about vulnerability opening the door to friendship with Jesusdelight as a mark of genuine friendship with Jesus and learning to listen to the Spirit of Jesus.

On the last day of Rebound, Kraft, author of More: When a Little Bit of the Spirit Is Not Enough and Good News for Those Trying Harder, and his wife, Raylene, shared their story of embracing Paul’s words, “to know… the fellowship of [Christ’s] sufferings.” Without diminishing the realities of suffering, they shared how Jesus meets us in our suffering and can deepen our friendship with Him through the fellowship of sharing in His suffering.  Continue Reading…

Friendship with Jesus is not only possible, it is essential.

At Rebound 2015, we heard from Alan Kraft, lead pastor of Christ Community Church (EFCA), about four different aspects of friendship with Jesus. Rebound is a retreat for youth workers and their spouses, if applicable, to get away and reconnect with God, one another, their calling and their identity.

In the previous two posts, Kraft taught about vulnerability opening the door to friendship with Jesus and delight as a mark of genuine friendship with Jesus.

Friendship with Jesus: Learning to listen to the Spirit of Jesus

In his third message at Rebound, Kraft, the author of two books, More: When a Little Bit of the Spirit Is Not Enough and Good News for Those Trying Harder, focused on a verse from the Book of John:  Continue Reading…

Feeling weak and alone in ministry? You’re not alone. In 2 Timothy, Paul encourages Timothy 25 times to “be strong.” You only tell someone to “be strong” 25 times, in a single letter, if you know they are feeling weak.

Youth Ministry is hard. Why? Because we are in a war! It’s easy to forget that reality. Paul reminds Timothy, a young pastor, that he is a soldier in the middle of a cosmic battle with an enemy that makes ISIS look like a kitty cat.

At Rebound 2014, pastor Chris Brown, of North Coast Church in California, encouraged youth workers and their spouses to be strong and courageous, keeping a wartime mentality in ministry.  Continue Reading…
